STORY
Hernan Serrao is an Argentinian legend. He started DJing at the tender and
impressionable age of 16, he was opening for iconic acts like Grace Jones,Donna Summer and Gloria Gaynor in illustrious clubs such as the Buenos Aires News (now known as Crobar Buenos Aires). From there he became a resident in some of Argentina’s most acclaimed dance institutions such as the Super Club, Opera Bay and Club Pacha Buenos Aires. Hernan made many guest appearances in clubs across the country like the South American Music Conference, the Renaissance party at Crobar and Sobremonte in Mar Del Plata. As his sound grew so did his reach and he began playing first across South America in such places as Brazil, Peru, Chile and Paraguay, and then across the globe from London to Amsterdam, and Denmark to Slovenia.
With his professional growth came international recognition and Hernan Serrao was invited to play in many cities and many South American´s countries like Brazil, Peru, Chile, Paraguay, and not to forget to mention that Hernan is the only DJ to have played in all editions of the South American Music conference held in Buenos Aires- Argentina.
Hernan was also the first DJ to perform a gig at the exclusive Hotel Unique in Sao Paulo city-Brazil, where, and thanks to the success of the party began to hold events at this location with DJ’s such as Hernan Cattaneo, Lee Burridge, and many more.
Hernan’s music arrived into Europe in 2002, He was one of the first Argentinian DJs to play at The Gallery / Turnmills in London with the likes of Ferry Corsten, Renato Cohen, Tania Von Pear and Natalia Data, he also traveled across Europe on the Global Underground tour.
During his time in Europe Hernan left his mark and since then has made an annual tour in the old continent.
Hernan has already performed in Belgrade, Amsterdam, Budapest, Denmark, Slovenia, and the tour with Global Underground in Kaunas and Vilnius (Lithuania), Global Underground choose Hernan Serrao for the first time that they had appeared in that country. Hernan was one of the only 2 Argentinean DJ’s touring with Global Underground.
Musically he know’s how to combine underground music with the sounds that people expect to hear in a club, being very versatile with the ability to travel from one style to another, from deep house to progressive house, from progressive house to tech house finishing with a high quality energetic sound.
As a producer Hernan Serrao has several records released in different European and American labels and since 2013 run’s his own record label called “Groovenight Records". Also to mention his productions under the Pka Jacks Funk, this was for four months consecutive number one sales in the overall Beatport chart, this track earned to the co-producer of the track (Thomas Penton) an interview in resident advisor. At this point in his career Hernan’s performances have been shared in the best clubs in the world and together with the most recognized DJs on the electronic global scene such as Darin Epsilon, Seb Fontaine, Green Velvet, Hernán Cattaneo, Gpal, Pete Heller, Sultan, Above & Beyond, Andy Moor, Tim Andresen, Ferry Corsten, Tall Paul, Nick Warren, Richei Hawtin, Judge Jules, Way Out West, Green Velvey, Omid 16bit, Sven Vath and more ..., often touring with more than one of them, this is represented well in an event in Acapulco alongside Pole Folder,Dominic Plaza, Lexicon Av, and in Mexico DF with Darin Epsilon, Seb Fontaine, Green Velvet, Paolo Mojo, or Hernan’s tour of the Argentinian coast Atlantic with Austin Leeds, Tim Davison, Circulation, Thomas Penton, Jody Wisternoff (way out west) and many more.
Hernan’s sound is an elegant blend between deep house, progressive house, and tech house which he has aptly coined as protech. Preferring to weave in and out of styles in order to tell a complete story with his sets, Serrao has become a master storyteller.
He has his own record label and a radio show called “Groovenight”, running for the past 15 years straight which you can find on Proton Radio every 4th Monday of the month, allowing him to consistently sharpen his tools whilst at the same time giving him reach to find the newest and most interesting tracks.
Hernan in 2016 became involved with Pro-B-Tech Records which has seen him now releasing regularly on Pro B Tech Music / BTech Noir.
This has now expanded into being Hernan being approached and signed up by Probtech Management UK & USA (www.probtechmanagement.com) and is now European represented by this organization.
Probtech Management is a spin off organization of Pro B Tech Music and BTechNoir which allows the doors to be opened to Hernan for several remix and new production requests.
With Hernan’s representation via Probtech he is now also directly involved and within the roster via the online digital booking system Gigwell making things very easy for
The future is looking very bright for Hernan with a lot of plans being put together which will see more productions and events in the coming months ahead.
